CNA Program

DHH and Board of Regents approved program

The course consists of 80 total program hours, which include 40 classroom hours and 40 clinical hours

All classes taught by a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse

We begin with an introduction to healthcare, then emphasize teachings in areas such as infection control, basic nursing skills and safety/emergency 

Clinicals

Take place at a local nursing home in your third week and is supervised by a Licensed Nurse.

*Physical exam, TB skin test, Drug Test (additional fees may apply)

Phlebotomy Technician

Phlebotomy

Course Outline

The Phlebotomy Technician program is designed to prepare students to become skilled entry-level technicians who work closely with doctors, nurses, and other allied health professionals. It provides an overall review of the most current phlebotomy practices and procedures. Students will be taught basic entry level courses described below. They will learn competency skills for both capillary and venous laboratory procedures accompanied by comprehensive classroom lecture. The Phlebotomy Technician Course is an 8 week evening program consisting of 84 classroom lecture hours, 36 clinical laboratory hours and 16 hours of clinical externship. Course offerings will be based on minimum enrollment requirements. 

All Classes Taught by a Licensed Nurse and Phlebotomist

This course will prepare the certified phlebotomy technician to work in a clinical laboratory environment and healthcare setting. 

Clinicals

In partnership with local facilities students will complete 16 hours of clinical externship to assist with meeting NHA requirements of 30 Venipuncture and 10 capillary sticks on live individuals. Clinicals will reinforce teachings of laboratory testing and procedures

*High School diploma or GED or CNA certificate from Woodland Healthcare Training  

*At least 75% on Competency Exam 

*Physical exam, TB skin test, Drug Test (additional fees may apply) 

*Criminal background Check (must be cleared of any criminal convictions, additional fees may apply)

Medical Assistant

Course Outline


The Medical Assistant program prepares students to perform duties under direction of a physician/practitioner, including preparing examination rooms, taking vital signs, assisting in minor surgical procedures, giving injections, performing venipuncture, assisting in laboratory operations, performing urinalysis along with various other laboratory tests, assisting in radiological procedures and administering electrocardiograms. It provides an overall review of the most current phlebotomy practices and procedures. Students will be taught basic entry level courses described below. They will learn competency skills for both capillary and venous laboratory procedures accompanied by comprehensive classroom lecture. Medical assistants also learn to function in an administrative capacity, including patient communications, maintaining patient records, billing, scheduling appointments, ordering supplies and processing insurance claims. The Medical Assistant is a 16 week evening class. Course offerings will be based on minimum enrollment requirements. 

All Classes Taught by Registered and Licensed Nurses

This course will prepare the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant to work in various healthcare settings.

Clinicals

In partnership with local facilities students will complete 40 clinical externship hours in preparation for certification through NHA.

Advanced Medical Assistant

Course Outline

For the student interested in all 3 Certifications. The Advanced Medical Assistant Program combines  the CNA, Certified Phlebotomy Technician and Medical Assistant programs together. 

All classes taught by Licensed and Registered Nurses

 This course will prepare the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant to work in various healthcare settings. 

Clinicals

 In partnership with local facilities students will complete 96 clinical externship hours in preparation for certification through Prometric and NHA.

*At least 75% on Competency Exam
